Originally from Yorkshire my career in nursing brought me to live in the Scottish Borders in 1975. After many enjoyable years walking the Borders hills and numerous trips to the West Highlands and the Isle of Skye, in 2003 in semi-retirement I started painting.
I very soon discovered that I most enjoyed the tactile medium of pastel. A self-taught artist, over the intervening years I have progressively pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved with pastel, exploring the colour palette to interpret the ever changing background light and its influence on how we see the sky, land and water.
I also now take great pleasure in passing on my skills to others, carrying out workshops and teaching on a one to one basis.
