"A painter might see colour first but I have always been drawn to the place where light meets shadow, a graphic world, of line and monochromatic contrasts. Etching is the perfect medium.
The embossed line and velvet blackness typical of the effects that can be got are what I hope for.
I still have a lot to learn. It's tricky to master, to judge the stages correctly, but sometimes it works.
Recently I became re-aquainted with Chinese brush paintings, the ones done in black with a single element done in another colour, red maybe. It occured to me that something similar could be done with an etching. This exhibition grew out of exploring that idea." Cat Outram.

"A love of the highlands and Islands, imaginary landscapes on the sides of old and
abandoned boats, reflections that distort and abstract. Either or a combination of these form the basis of my work.
I am a self taught artist working out of an artist studio in Selkirk, generally working in square or panoramic format.
Asked to sum up the drive and motivation behind my work is a poem I wrote a while ago.
Something from nothing, nothing from something.
But then, what is anything. If not, that which we perceive from within.
So I take it as a compliment when people say that they see different things in a painting & especially if its each time they look at it.

Eoghan Bridge - Sculptor |
|
|
 |
Eoghan Bridge creates wonderfully evocative sculptures with a delicate blue finish, often thoughtful but at the same time strong and of the moment and he has a style of his own. Eoghan exhibits at many galleries with smaller figures up to life-size.
His sculptures explore the relationship and composition between horse and rider, and the human figure. He produces sculptures in bronze, ceramic, resin and aluminium.
He has received awards and commissions including wall sculptures for the P&O Cruise ship Ventura, an over sized equestrian bronze for Rutland Court in Edinburgh and was awarded the 'Ireland Alloys Award' from the Royal Scottish Academy.
